one month till I'm two decades old...

Well, actually one month from yesterday but I had too busy of a day to post. I'm waiting for my friend Jenna to call me and pick me up for an afternoon of errands but I wanted to write something quick. ONE MONTH. My friends know very well how hard of a time I have with this fact. I am even one of the last ones of my friends to leave my teenage years behind me and head into the DREADED 20's. Ahhhhhhhhh. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time? I like feeling old but only to an extent. I tease Liz, Jackie and LJ all the time about them already being clumped into the categories that read, Make-up for your 20's! Keep it fun in your 20's! Start saving in your 20's! I am going to be apart of that grouping very shortly and I don't know how I feel about that. Ha.
On another note, tomorrow officially begins our spring FORMAL WEEKEND 09!!!! In Santa Monica. Tomorrow we are going camping in Malibu and then Saturday we are staying in the Santa Monica Doubletree and dancing in the ballroom. Very excited but that also calls for lots of planning! On Sunday I am headed from the hotel to the Del to see THE FAMILY and won't be back in redlands until tuesday so I have to pack for 4 nights. 4 nights include= sleeping bags, tent, formal dress, heels, camping gear, swim suit, towel, make up, tennis shoes, beach wear, nice clothes for dinner, lounging clothes, etc. OH MY! Do I have some traveling ahead of me! Mom and Dad are also being nice enough to send a car to come pick me up in Santa Monica on Sunday and take me back to Redlands Tuesday morning before my morning class. How amazing is that? Or else I was looking at 5+ hours of driving (very tired i'm assuming!) on Sunday to San Diego. So thanks!

Shakespeare vs. my life circa the 21st century

In my Shakespeare class we talked about “the story of loss and love” while analyzing each word in famous speeches from King Lear. Later I thought about the process of incremental disintegration, someone slowly moving from the foreground into the deepest parts of the subconscious. I think that is the best way to attempt to move on. Whether it be over a guy, or just the idea of one, you have to condition your conscious if you ever expect to someday rely on your subconscious.

When you get wrapped up in the fairytale, you often lose sight of reality.

It's easier to relate my feelings to tangible things, and Shakespeare is where I start. I remember after my last breakup I imagined myself as Ophelia. Hamlet pushed her away not because he didn’t love her but because he felt like he had to in his need to protect her. I find strange comfort in bridging the gap between relationships in my life circa the 21st century to these fictional characters in the Elizabethan era. There is something so foreign but at the same time so real about these characters that, over time, have arguably become as real as any renowned figure in society today. Take Beethoven (like Hamlet)-- we know how he behaved, what he said, how he viewed the things in his world. Whose to say what's real?

sisterhood retreat

Let me paint you a picture: Friday. 1 o'clock. 85 degrees. March. Southern California. =poool day :) I swear to you, if anyone was leading tours today and took them and showed them the pool I think they would have just signed up for our school right then and there. There were a million students on this sunny friday throwing the football, swimming, laying out, with music and speakers. These are the days I am so happy I go here... I lathered up in 8 spf because you can never be certain how strong the sun actually is (I learned that the hard way) and after a nice shower I definitely see improvements--do not detect any red yet!
In just a few hours were going to drive to San Diego for a sisterhood retreat. We stay the night at a sister's house and then leave the next morning. I'm hoping the sun won't put me in too much of a coma for the drive... it sure does suck your energy!!
Here's a picture of the Hawaiian Date night last night-- 3 of the girls♥

middle of march?!

I doubled checked my calendar twice today because I was so shocked by the date. Its March 11th and it feels like it should be February! My weekends are starting to fill up quickly and I even found myself breezing casually through the week of finals! CRAZY! Our formal is coming up in a few weeks and I got a date today :) His name is colin, on the soccer team and is a junior. A lot of guys on the soccer team are going so I think it will be a good time. I tried on my formal dress for LJ just a second ago and it fit (ha yah!) and I am starting to think about shoes... (I got the dress at BCBG with mom when they were down here for break)
FRIDAY COULDN"T BE COMING QUICKER and in less than 2 days I will be picking up the gang at the Palm Springs airport! I haven't seen may-may since xmas so I'm so excited!! =) We have a full weekend of fun in the sun and I can't wait to watch tennis and sun bathe with the girls!
I get my world politics midterm back tomorrow... keep your fingers crossed! Oh and today marks a very special day because mom and dad made my flight reservations for SALZBURG SEPT. 2nd!!! I cannot believe I am actually, 100%, really going abroad. I know I talk about it like its happening, but when you actually get into details it kind of freaks me out! We go from LAX to Frankfurt, Germany and then take another flight from Frankfurt to Salzburg. LJ and I are traveling to Frankfurt together and then were meeting up with our sister Abbie to fly into the town of Salzburg. We get home on the 16th (in the US the 17th?) AHHHHH
I'm trying to get a lot of work/assignments out of the way before friday so I can fully enjoy Pacific Life weekend but I wanted to offer a little update.
Weekend re-cap coming soon!!

wow..

I've been horrible this week about posting! The week after break is always busy and the work load is getting more intense as the half way point is passed. Needless to say I've been on the go between volunteering, classes, intermural soccer (i know right?!) and delta. I am so so so looking forward to this upcoming weekend because MOM MEGAN & KRISTY are flying down to watch Pacific Life in Palm Springs!! I am SO excited to see them it's ridiculous.
This past weekend was really jam packed (and amazing!!) as well. Thursday we hosted a Pirate Party at the house and had a bigger turn out than I would have thought, turned out to be really fun! Friday the birds (a frat) had a RAVE themed party and a lot of people showed surprisingly because usually friday nights are not that big here. And finally yesterday was Presents so the whole day was filled with activities and new girls revealed their name.. Untamed 10. After that we went back and changed and then we had AfTeRGlOw (also called a highlighter party, where you wear white shirts and bring highlighters and everyone writes on eachother) It was literally 3 hours of intense dancing and I am exhausted!! It was an all-school party so 400+ people were there and it was crazy!
Tomorrow I have volunteering in the morning and then I have a lot of work to do, an essay in Shakespeare etc. But its all worth it because I have such a good weekend ahead of me!!
Pictures coming soon!
